RACE DAY OPPORTUNITIES

SPONSORSHIP & BOOTH SETUP

This team helps procure sponsorships by reaching out to local and corporate businesses. Working with the registration crew, the Sponsorship Team contacts sponsors about their free entries for the race and signing up their teams.

DOOR PRIZES

This team works ahead of the race to solicit and collect door prizes from local businesses as well as generate buzz about the prizes via social media. In addition to manning the table during the event and answering any questions, this team is also responsible for sending out thank you cards afterwards. 

AWARENESS BOOTH

This team mans the Awareness Booth in addition to handing out symptom cards and other awareness materials at the event. Members of this team will also be available to take donations for Awareness items.

RACE AMBASSADORS

This team ensures the race runs smoothly both before and during the event by providing participants with information, answering questions, overseeing other VolunTeals, and encouraging Teal Fundraising. 

SURVIVORS' AREA

This team is responsible for compiling Survivor swag bags as well as procuring Survivor door prizes. On the day of the race, this team checks in Survivors as they arrive and gives them the Survivor swag bag and Survivor pins. The team will assist the Sponsorship Team with setting up the Survivors' Lounge, the decorations team with decorating the Survivors' Lounge and the food crew with the Survivors' area food table.

FOOD CREW

The Food Crew is in charge of all aspects of catering for the race, ensuring all the participants are well fed! From pickup to presentation, this team takes care of all the food preparations.

MEMORIAL BALLOON RELEASE

The Memorial Balloon Release is the final event of the morning. This crew is responsible for acquiring the permit, organizing logistics of biodegradable teal balloons, and manning the table on the day of the race. 

DECORATIONS

This team is in charge of creating and setting up all decor for the race from arranging helium tanks for the Memorial Balloon Release and marking the course with symptom signs to creating signs at the bag stuffing party.

MEDIA KITS

This team works to acquire all manner of teal goodies for National Wear Teal Day Media Kits. Working together to assemble and deliver kits for National Wear Teal Day, this team carries out the social media blitz and collects survivor stories to be submitted to local media. 

ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

AWARENESS EVENTS TEAM

This team participates in Colorado Springs events, including Springs Spree, Territory Days, Women's Expo, Pridefest, and more to raise awareness for ovarian cancer using the Wheel of Teal and symptom cards. This team will also will do the 9News health fairs in April with Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance.

MEDIA / WEB

This team promotes SDOCS through social media as well as updating the website. From blogging to responding to general email inquiries, this team is the online face of the organization. 

VOLUNTEAL COORDINATOR

The VolunTeal Coordinator is responsible for getting the word out to past VolunTeals about upcoming opportunities with the organization. They will also train VolunTeals when needed and maintain relevant documentation.
